Zonal Project Directorate Zone VII was upgraded in March 2009. Zonal Coordinating Unit was established on 11th September 1979 under Cess Fund in the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya at Jabalpur, M P. to monitor the activities of the Lab to Land Programme in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa. Further, Maharashtra was attached with Zone V and Goa with Zonal Project Directorate VIII and Orissa was attached with Zonal Project Directorate VII. Now this zone comprises of three states namely Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa. During the period Council assigned responsibility to this Unit for monitoring other ICAR supported TOT Projects situated in the Zone. These projects were Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK), Trainers Training Center (TTC), National Demonstration Scheme (ND), Operational Research Projects (ORP), Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Projects (SC & ST) and Special Projects on Oilseeds. During 1990-91 Frontline Demonstrations on Oilseeds under Oilseeds Production Programme (OPP) and on Pulses under National Pulse Projects (NPP) were initiated. This Unit was also monitoring Front Line Demonstration on farm implements and cotton. In 1995, a pilot project on Institute Village Linkage Programme was undertaken and implemented in this zone.
